Customized Telescopic Hydraulic Cylinders — Multistage For Dump Trailer

Customized telescopic hydraulic cylinder for dump trailers — with a complete guide to the OEM customization process. “Customized” means the cylinder is designed and manufactured to your exact specification — not selected from a catalogue of standard sizes. Every dimension, material, surface treatment, seal type, mounting geometry, and port thread is defined by you and built by Korea Ever-Power. This page walks through the 7-step process from initial inquiry to mass production delivery, explaining what happens at each stage, what decisions you need to make, and how long each step takes.

Dump Trailer — From Your Spec to Your Dock

"Customized" is not a marketing word — it is the manufacturing model. Every telescopic hydraulic cylinder that Korea Ever-Power produces for dump trailers is built to a customer-defined specification. There is no warehouse of pre-made standard cylinders. Your bore, stroke, stage count, mounting type, port thread, seal material, surface treatment, and acting type are manufactured specifically for your order.

Many first-time OEM buyers are uncertain about the customization process — how to start, what information the factory needs, how long each step takes, and when they need to make decisions. This page removes that uncertainty by mapping the complete 7-step journey from your first inquiry to the production cylinders arriving at your dump trailer assembly line. Every step has a defined timeline, a clear deliverable, and specific actions required from you and from the factory.

Custom telescopic cylinder manufacturing process

The 7-Step OEM Customization Process — Inquiry to Mass Production

Each step has a defined timeline and deliverable. The total time from first inquiry to production delivery is typically 10–14 weeks for a new specification (faster for repeat orders where the drawing is already validated).

1Inquiry & Specification — Day 1

You provide: bore, rod, stroke, stage count, acting type (SA/DA), retracted length, mounting type + dimensions (base and rod end), port thread, working pressure, seal material preference, surface treatment, quantity, and dump trailer application description. For replacements: old cylinder measurements, photos, or a sample. The more complete your initial specification, the faster Step 2 proceeds.

Factory delivers: Confirmation of receipt and preliminary feasibility check within 24 hours. If any specification is unclear or potentially problematic, the engineering team will ask clarifying questions at this stage — not later.

2Engineering Drawing — Days 2–4

Factory delivers: A detailed engineering drawing showing all dimensions, tolerances, materials, seal specifications, mounting geometry, port positions, and surface treatment. This drawing is the manufacturing contract — the cylinder will be built exactly as shown. Review every dimension carefully before approving.

Your action: Review the drawing, verify all dimensions against your dump trailer frame and hoist geometry, confirm or request changes. Drawing revisions typically take 1–2 additional days. Approval of the final drawing triggers Step 3.

3Quotation & Payment Terms — Days 4–5

Factory delivers: Formal quotation with unit price, quantity pricing tiers, payment terms (typically 30% deposit + 70% before shipment for new customers), Incoterm options (FOB/CIF/DDP), estimated production lead time, and shipping method. The price is based on the approved drawing — all specification changes after this point may affect the price.

Your action: Accept the quotation, place the order, and pay the deposit. Deposit receipt triggers production scheduling.

4Sample Production (Optional) — Days 5–35

Factory delivers: 1–2 sample cylinders manufactured using the full production process (same machines, same materials, same QC). Sample production takes the same 25–35 days as production orders because the manufacturing process is identical — there is no shortcut. Samples are shipped via air freight or courier for speed.

Your action: Test-fit the sample on your dump trailer frame, verify all mounting dimensions, test the hydraulic operation under load, and confirm the specification is correct. Sample approval triggers Step 5. Sample cost is typically credited against the production order.

5Production — Days 35–70 (or 5–35 if no sample)

Factory delivers: The full production quantity — machined, honed, welded, assembled, sealed, chrome-plated, painted, and 100% pressure-tested. Each cylinder receives an individual pressure test certificate with serial number. Production photos are available on request. Third-party pre-shipment inspections (SGS, Bureau Veritas, TÜV) can be arranged at this stage if required by your quality system.

6Packaging & Shipping — Days 70–75

Factory delivers: Export-packed cylinders in ISPM-15 compliant plywood cases or pallets with anti-corrosion protection. Shipping documentation (commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, pressure test certificates). Shipped via the agreed method (sea freight, air freight, or courier) to the agreed Incoterm destination. Tracking information provided. See the hydraulic cylinder shipping information for details on transit times and packaging standards.

7Delivery & Ongoing Support — Day 75+

You receive: Cylinders at your facility, inspect against the approved drawing (incoming inspection checklist), and install on your dump trailers. The 1-year warranty begins from the delivery date. For ongoing production: repeat orders reference the same drawing number and ship in 25–35 days production time (no drawing or sample stage needed). Annual blanket agreements with scheduled call-offs provide predictable supply and pricing. Replacement seal kits, spare cylinders, and technical support are available directly from the factory throughout the product lifecycle.

Speed tip:
The fastest path to production is to skip the sample stage — but only if you are confident in your specification (e.g. replacing an existing cylinder with exact measurements, or you have a proven drawing from a previous supplier). If you skip the sample and the specification is wrong, the entire production batch may need to be remade — which costs more time and money than a single sample. For new designs and first-time specifications, always order a sample. Browse all customizable telescopic cylinder configurations for dump trailers.

OEM Customization FAQ

What is the minimum order quantity for custom cylinders?

There is no fixed minimum — Korea Ever-Power accepts orders from 1 unit (replacement/sample) to thousands (OEM production). However, the per-unit price decreases with quantity because setup costs are amortised. A single-unit custom order carries the full setup cost; a 50-unit order spreads it across 50 units. For the best pricing, consolidate your requirements into the largest practical batch size or establish an annual blanket agreement.

Can I change the specification after production starts?

It depends on the manufacturing stage. If raw materials have not been cut: specification changes are possible with minimal delay. If machining has started: changes to bore, stroke, or mounting dimensions require new material and restart the production clock. If assembly is in progress: only non-dimensional changes (seal material, paint colour) may be feasible. The safest approach is to finalise the specification completely at the drawing approval stage (Step 2) — changes after that point risk delay and additional cost.

Do you keep my drawing on file for future orders?

Yes. Every approved drawing is filed by drawing number and customer name. Repeat orders reference the drawing number — the factory retrieves the validated drawing, confirms the specification has not changed, and proceeds directly to production (skipping Steps 1–4). This is why repeat orders are faster and more efficient — the entire engineering and sample stage is eliminated. Your drawing remains on file indefinitely as long as the commercial relationship is active.

Can I provide my own drawing instead of using the factory's format?

Absolutely. If you have a CAD drawing (DWG, DXF, PDF, or STEP format), send it with your inquiry. The factory engineering team will review it, confirm manufacturability, and may suggest modifications for production efficiency. Using your own drawing also ensures the cylinder matches your internal documentation system. For forklift cylinder projects, aerial platform cylinder projects, and telescopic cylinder projects — the same drawing-based OEM process applies across all product lines.

★★★★★

First-time OEM customer. Followed the 7-step process exactly as described on this page. Sent our specification on Day 1, received the drawing on Day 3, approved on Day 4, ordered a sample. Sample arrived by air in 33 days. Test-fitted on our trailer frame — perfect. Approved the sample and placed a 40-unit production order. Production took 30 days, sea freight 28 days to Indianapolis. Total from first inquiry to production delivery: 14 weeks. The process was exactly as described — no surprises, no hidden steps. Now on our 3rd repeat order — those take 9 weeks because we skip the drawing and sample stages.

★★★★★

Ordered a replacement cylinder for our dump trailer — measured the old cylinder carefully, sent all 12 parameters listed on this page. Skipped the sample stage because I was confident in my measurements (exact replacement). Drawing confirmed in 2 days, production 26 days, air freight to Sydney 5 days. Total: 33 days from order to installation. The customized cylinder matched the old one within 0.5 mm on every dimension — direct bolt-in replacement. For exact replacements where you have good measurements, skipping the sample saves 5–6 weeks.

★★★★☆

Designing a new dump trailer model — sent our own CAD drawing in DXF format. The Ever-Power engineering team reviewed it and suggested two modifications: a slightly larger pin diameter for the base mount (to increase shear strength at our design load) and a different port position (to improve hose routing clearance on our frame). Both suggestions were good engineering decisions that improved our design. Four stars only because the sample stage added 6 weeks to the timeline — but for a new design, the sample was essential and revealed a minor clearance issue that we corrected before production. The final production batch of 25 was perfect.
