Dump trailers — both end-dump and bottom-dump — use telescopic hydraulic cylinders as the primary tipping actuator. The dump trailer market is global: body builders and fleet operators in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Australasia all purchase telescopic hoist cylinders. Korea Ever-Power serves all these markets factory-direct, and this page demystifies the international procurement process for buyers who may be importing hydraulic cylinders for the first time.

Three Shipping Methods — Speed, Cost, and When to Use Each
Hydraulic cylinders are heavy, dense steel products. The shipping method you choose significantly affects the total delivered cost and timeline. Korea Ever-Power ships via all three methods and the sales team can recommend the optimal choice based on your order size, urgency, and destination.
Sea Freight — Lowest Cost, Longest Transit
Transit time: 15–45 days depending on destination. This is the standard method for production-volume orders (10+ cylinders). Cylinders are palletised and loaded into shared containers (LCL — less than container load) or full containers (FCL — 20ft or 40ft) for larger orders. Sea freight is typically the lowest-cost option per kilogram for heavy steel products. FCL is more cost-effective per unit than LCL for orders filling more than approximately one-third of a 20ft container.
Air Freight — Fastest, Highest Cost
Transit time: 3–7 days to most major airports worldwide. Air freight costs 5–10× more per kilogram than sea freight — but delivers in days instead of weeks. For small cylinders (2–3 inch bore, short stroke), the weight is manageable and the air freight premium may be justified when a truck is sitting idle waiting for a replacement cylinder. For large, heavy cylinders (5–6 inch bore, 80+ inch stroke), the weight makes air freight prohibitively expensive in most cases.
Express Courier — Door-to-Door, Small Parcels
Transit time: 4–10 days door-to-door via DHL, FedEx, UPS, or TNT. Courier services handle customs clearance and deliver directly to your address — the simplest option for the buyer. However, couriers have weight and size limits (typically 30–70 kg per parcel, maximum 270–300 cm length) and cost more than air freight per kilogram for heavy items. Suitable for 1–3 small cylinders; not practical for production quantities.
Export Packaging — Protecting the Cylinder During Transit
Telescopic hydraulic cylinders are precision products with polished plunger surfaces that must arrive scratch-free. Any dent or scratch on the plunger surface caused by shipping damage will cut the rod seal and cause premature leakage. Korea Ever-Power's export packaging is designed to prevent this.

Each cylinder is shipped fully retracted with plastic end caps covering all exposed plunger surfaces and ports. The plunger end caps prevent scratches during handling and keep contaminants out of the hydraulic ports during transit and storage. Do not remove the port caps until you are ready to connect the hydraulic hoses — every moment the ports are open is an opportunity for dirt to enter the system.
Sea freight orders are packed in plywood cases or on fumigated wooden pallets (ISPM-15 compliant for international shipping without quarantine issues). Cylinders are arranged to prevent movement within the case — foam spacers or strapping secure each unit. The plywood case provides impact protection during container loading, port handling, and trucking to your facility. Custom packaging for oversized cylinders (stroke >80 inches) is available on request.
Exposed metal surfaces are coated with anti-corrosion oil or VCI (vapour corrosion inhibitor) film before packing. This protects the cylinder during the sea freight transit period — which may involve 3–6 weeks in a container with humidity fluctuations. For long-term storage (if you are ordering spare inventory), the anti-corrosion protection is effective for approximately 6–12 months in indoor, dry storage. Contact the hydraulic cylinder factory for extended storage protection options.
Understanding the Landed Cost — Beyond the FOB Price
The "competitive price" on the quotation is typically the FOB (Free On Board) price — the cost of the cylinder at the factory's loading dock. The total "landed cost" at your facility includes additional components that the buyer should budget for. Korea Ever-Power can also quote CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight to your port) or DDP (Delivered Duty Paid to your door) to simplify your budgeting.
| Cost Component | Included in FOB? | Included in CIF? | Included in DDP? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cylinder manufacturing | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Export packaging | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Ocean/air freight | Buyer arranges | ✓ | ✓ |
| Marine insurance | Buyer arranges | ✓ | ✓ |
| Import customs duty | Buyer pays | Buyer pays | ✓ |
| Local delivery to your door | Buyer arranges | Buyer arranges | ✓ |
If you have never imported hydraulic cylinders before, request a DDP quotation. DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) means Korea Ever-Power handles everything — manufacturing, packaging, freight, insurance, customs clearance, import duties, and delivery to your address. You pay one price and receive the cylinders at your door. DDP costs more than FOB, but eliminates the complexity of arranging international logistics yourself. As you become experienced with importing, you can switch to FOB or CIF for lower costs.
Order-to-Delivery Timeline — Planning Your Dump Trailer Project
The total time from order placement to cylinder delivery at your facility is production time plus transit time. Planning your dump trailer build schedule around this timeline prevents idle labour waiting for cylinders.
| Phase | Duration | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
| Drawing confirmation | 2–3 days | Engineering drawing sent for your approval |
| Production | 25–35 days | Machining, honing, welding, assembly, pressure test, packaging |
| Sea freight | 15–45 days | Varies by destination (Asia 15d, Europe 25–30d, Americas 30–45d) |
| Air freight (alternative) | 3–7 days | Factory to destination airport |
| Customs + local delivery | 2–7 days | Clearance and trucking from port to your facility |
| Total (sea freight) | 6–12 weeks | Drawing + production + sea + customs |
| Total (air freight) | 4–6 weeks | Drawing + production + air + customs |

International Shipping — FAQ
Field Reports
First-time import from Korea Ever-Power. Ordered 15 telescopic cylinders for end-dump trailers — CIF Houston port. Drawing confirmed in 2 days, production took 28 days, sea freight was 32 days to Houston, customs clearance 3 days. Total: 65 days from order to workshop. Cylinders arrived in plywood cases, perfect condition, anti-corrosion coating intact. The CIF quote included freight and insurance — I only had to arrange customs clearance and local trucking. Total landed cost was approximately 45% less than sourcing the same specification domestically. Will continue importing.
We requested DDP — delivered to our workshop in Dubai. Korea Ever-Power handled everything: manufacturing, packaging, freight, customs clearance, and delivery. I paid one invoice and the cylinders arrived at my door. The DDP premium was about 8% more than FOB, but the convenience was worth it — I didn't have to deal with customs paperwork, freight forwarders, or port charges. For first-time importers, I strongly recommend DDP. After 3 DDP orders, I now understand the logistics well enough to switch to FOB for lower cost on future orders.
Needed an emergency replacement for a failed hoist cylinder on a dump trailer that was costing us $800/day in lost revenue. Ordered air freight from Ever-Power — 3-inch bore, 3-stage, single-acting. Production took 26 days (couldn't be shortened), air freight to Sydney took 5 days, customs 2 days. Total 33 days. Four stars because I wished there was an express production option for emergencies — the air freight was fast but the 26-day production was the bottleneck. The lesson: keep one spare cylinder on the shelf to avoid emergency lead times. The cylinder quality is excellent — running perfectly 4 months later.
