What Standards Define "Quality"

Every telescopic hydraulic cylinder manufacturer claims "quality manufacturing." But quality is not a feeling — it is compliance with specific, measurable, published standards. This page explains the standards that define hydraulic cylinder manufacturing quality and how Korea Ever-Power's 2-stage cylinders meet them.

ISO 9001 Certificate

Verify the scope says "manufacturing" (not "trading"). Verify the certification body is accredited (UKAS, DAkkS, CNAS, or equivalent). Check the expiry date — ISO 9001 certificates are valid for 3 years with annual surveillance audits.

Individual Pressure Test Certificate

Each cylinder should have its own test certificate with: serial number (matching the cylinder), test pressure (1.5× rated), test duration, and result (pass/fail). Batch certificates ("100 cylinders tested, all passed") are less reliable than individual certificates because they don't prove that YOUR specific cylinder was tested.

Material Certificates (Mill Certs)

For critical applications (mining, heavy construction, regulated industries), request mill certificates for the seamless steel tube — these trace the steel grade, chemical composition, and mechanical properties to the steel mill's production batch. Not every buyer needs mill certs, but they are essential if your quality system requires full material traceability.

Dimensional Inspection Report

For first-article orders or matched pairs, request a dimensional inspection report showing actual measured dimensions against the drawing tolerances. This confirms the cylinder was measured (not just visually inspected) and every critical dimension falls within tolerance. Does ISO 9001 guarantee that a specific cylinder is good quality?

ISO 9001 guarantees that the manufacturing system is controlled and repeatable — it does not guarantee that every individual cylinder is defect-free. However, a controlled system dramatically reduces the probability of defects because every step is documented, every operator is trained, and every defect triggers a corrective action. Combined with 100% individual pressure testing, ISO 9001 manufacturing produces a consistently high quality output — which is why ISO 9001 is the baseline requirement for any serious hydraulic cylinder purchase.

My customer requires CE marking — does Korea Ever-Power provide this?

CE marking for hydraulic cylinders falls under the EU Machinery Directive or Pressure Equipment Directive depending on the application. The cylinder manufacturer typically provides the relevant test documentation and declaration of conformity; the CE mark is applied by the machine builder who integrates the cylinder into the final equipment. Korea Ever-Power provides the documentation (pressure test certificates, material certificates, dimensional reports) that the machine builder needs for their CE technical file. Can I audit the Korea Ever-Power factory against my own quality standard?

Yes. Korea Ever-Power welcomes customer quality audits — whether conducted by your own quality team or by a third-party inspection company (SGS, Bureau Veritas, TÜV, Lloyd's). The factory is open for inspection during any working day with advance arrangement. Many OEM customers conduct a first-article audit before placing production orders, then conduct periodic surveillance audits annually. This is standard practice for forklift cylinder and aerial work vehicle cylinder OEM relationships as well.

Our quality system requires ISO 9001 manufacturing scope, individual pressure test certificates with traceable serial numbers, and mill certificates for the steel tube.
