Each time the collection crew loads waste into the hopper, the forward thrust cylinder drives the compaction plate from the hopper into the truck body. The plate sweeps the loose waste forward, compressing it against the previously compacted load. The cycle takes approximately 15–25 seconds — extend, compress, retract, ready for the next load.
The 320 mm stroke matches the depth of the hopper opening — ensuring the compaction plate sweeps the entire hopper volume into the body. At 18 MPa, the Φ90 bore produces 115 kN of compaction force.
